I've had some pretty bad morning sickness so far this pregnancy. I've thrown up at work, in parking lots, while driving on the highway in a Tupperware container...and of course many, many times in my bathroom. I'm no stranger to morning sickness, but Sunday night was the worst I've had so far. I started throwing up that evening and it kept coming up every few hours through out the night. By morning I had thrown up 7 times and my stomach acid started turning a greenish color. I felt so horrible and exhausted. So, Ryan called a number the doctor had given us, and the nurse who answered told us to go to the ER. We didn't think there was anything seriously wrong, but we were worried that I couldn't eat or drink anything, and the sickness wasn't letting up after 12 hours. But once we got to the ER, we got no sympathy at all. The ER doctor told me that I didn't look that sick and that it was normal to throw up during pregnancy. The nurse told me that I just need to toughen up. So rude! They still ran a blood test, urine test and ultrasound of the baby and all of my organs. In the end, everything came back normal and they sent me home (no IV for dehydration, no meds for the sickness).
So, it was a really crappy morning, BUT we got to see our baby for the first time! The ultrasound guy was really great. Ryan told him it was our first time seeing the baby, so he showed us the baby again and pointed out everything, and then printed some pictures for us to take home. He measured the baby and it measured at 14 weeks 2 days. He couldn't really get a good look for the gender, but he made a guess that it was a boy (which is also what my OBGYN guessed from hearing the heartbeat). Our official ultrasound for gender is in 5 weeks. Here are the pictures of our beautiful baby.
And here is a picture of my growing belly. I'm excited for the day when a stranger will comment on my pregnancy. That's when I will know that I really do look pregnant, and not like I've just put on a few pounds. I can still wear most of my clothes, but I've started doing the hair-tie-around-the-button trick for my jeans. Ryan likes my growing belly, which makes me feel good and not self conscious about getting bigger. He told me the other day that he thinks it really "cool" that my belly is getting big :) because it means our baby is growing.
I still haven't gotten the results back about fifth disease, so I'm still off work. I should hear sometime this week.

whoa, they really are tough over there. I think that they get so used to working around people in discomfort that it kinda numbs them to any sympathy. When I was pregnant I went to the hospital because I wasn't feeling good and later found out I was only dehydrated. I felt stupid but I'm glad they were nice about it. I feel where you're coming from though. I personally feel like you're being a trooper. One thing I found helped me a little with morning sickness was eating rice cakes. you know, they're round and flat. Just the plain salted ones. And check out a couple of good books at the library and just lay down and read or sleep. That helped too. Anyways, hang in there toughie, you're doing great!
Whoa! What a cute pregnant lady! I can even tell it's a baby from the ultrasound. I think your baby is a boy too. I hope you're feeling better today.
So cool! I can see his/her little face and everything!! (I'm not convinced it's a boy quite yet) At least there was a bright side to your horrible morning. Don't those people know you HAVE to be nice to pregnant ladies? I'm pretty sure that's a law. Sounds worse than regular ol morning sickness to me... When I was pregnant with Preston I think I went in 3 times thinking my water broke. That was embarrassing because I probably just peed my pants or something. :)
Emergency rooms are for emergencies Miss tummy ache. J/K. I am going to go up there and teach them a lesson. You look so cute pregnant!! So exciting!!
You look so good! The stranger comments are fun at first. They get old by then end. I wanted to cry when everyone saying "Are you sure its not twins" and "It looks like the baby will be 10 lbs". (That one really wasn't funny because of how big James and Ryan were at birth.)
Olive told me you were having a boy. She is very sure, but she was also very sure Miles would be a girl. I hope you start feeling better soon. You look amazing!
